Press Release Body = Middletown, NJ-On October 2, 2006, Donna Doyle (www.copybydoyle.com) was crowned Copywriter of the Year by American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI).
"It was an honor simply to be nominated," says Doyle, "but to win makes me speechless.and that\'s not an easy task!"
The award - part of the Monthly Copywriting Genius series - will be presented at AWAI\'s annual Copywriter\'s Bootcamp in Delray Beach, Florida on Friday, November 3, 2006. Doyle is slated to speak at several Bootcamp sessions this year.
Doyle\'s copywriting career started in the mid-1980s in Chicago. She worked as a promotion manager for a variety of trade magazines and honed her craft writing and designing sales brochures, editorial calendars and promotion campaigns.
While working as a direct response copywriter at Prentice Hall, Doyle wrote nearly all of the profitable health and self-improvement control packages that ran for years. "My ten-million piece control package for Heinerman\'s Encyclopedia of Fruits, Vegetable and Herbs remained unbeatable for six years."
That promotion was named one of "Axel\'s Grand Controls" by Axel Anderson of Inside Direct Mail Magazine. "Believe it or not, some of my Prentice Hall packages are still showing up in the mail today," said Doyle.
Doyle began her own freelance agency in 2000 and counts several prestigious companies on her client list. She is also a busy copywriting coach and mentor. "It\'s exciting and rewarding to share with other writers the success tools they need to get on the fast track to higher-paying assignments," she says. "You can make a good living as a copywriter but, like everything else, it takes time to build your business."
Building a successful freelance business is the theme of a new seminar series being presented by Doyle and partners Beth Erickson (www.filbertpublishing.com ) and Victoria Rosendahl (http://www.rosendahlwrites.com), also known as the 3 Chix (www.3chix.com). The Business of Successful Freelance Writing will be held in Wilmington, Delaware on May 5, 2007.
